Volkswagen GTI was launched at a ambitious price tag of 27 lakhs but the price has now been reduced to slightly more affordable 19.99 lakhs thanks to GST. The car is being sold as CBU in India and only 99 units of this hot hatchback were sent to Indian market for sale via Volkswagen showrooms in India.
On the outside, the Volkswagen GTI looks very similar to the VW Polo but has some cosmetic differences like honey comb grill with GTI badge and red accents to give it a sporty look. It has also LED DRLs. Powering this hot hatchback car is a 1.8L TSI petrol engine that churns out 189 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a DSG gearbox. This makes it the fastest hatchback on sale in India.
It’s a sports hatchback and you will get two doors with it. There is space for rear passengers so it is still a very practical car. Before its launch, the Fiat Abarth was the fastest hatchback but it took its crown away from it in Jun 2016 when it was launched as CBU. Abarth was no match for the GTI since it had AMT gearbox not DSG.
